The Hristo Smirnenski School is located in the small town of Iskar in Bulgaria. Students from 1st through 12th grades living in Iskar and the surrounding towns attend this school creating a student body of about 525 students. Hristo Smirnenski is unique in Bulgaria because in addition to a very impressive Language and science focus, they include Technology and Computer Information Education from the 3rd grade to the 12th grade. They have been able to achieve this through past Peace Corps Volunteer's efforts and donations from both corporate and private sources.
Currently, thanks to these donations, we have an English resource room that continues to grow and two computer labs with Internet access. However, the basic teaching materials are always in need. In most classrooms, they are using very old and often broken chalkboards that are very difficult to read and often share only 5 or 6 text books for a class. Some students don't have notebooks, pens, or even pencils.
This is your chance to make a direct difference in the lives and education of these kids. Though a fellow Volunteer's initiated program, a simple $25 donation can replace an old chalkboard with a new whiteboard and markers or put pen's, pencils, notebooks and textbooks in the hands of students lacking them. Your donation can be any denomination you choose and every dollar goes a long way, but rest assured the all donations will be administered by me directly, and every penny goes to the needs of the school. You will receive a personalized thank you letter from the students indicating exactly what your donation has supplied.
To pledge your donation, please fill out the following information and I will contact you straight away. Thank you for your support in making the Hristo Smirnenski School a successful learning environment.
